Matches, start time and Predictions for WWE Royal Rumble 2019
We are days away from the royal rumble and this year it feels a little refreshing. I am sad Roman can’t be a part of the festivities but it will be refreshing to see a new face main eventing WrestleMania 35. There will be a lot on the line at this Royal Rumble PPV and a lot of things can be set up for the road to WrestleMania but I’ll save that for another post coming soon but for now I leave you with some predictions for every match on the card:
Buddy Murphy Retains Cruiserweight championship in Fatal 4 Way with Kalisto, Akira Towaza, and Hideo Itami.
Rusev retains US Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura
The Bar retains Smackdown Tag Team Championship against The Miz and Shane McMahon
*Asuka retains Smackdown Women’s championship against Becky Lynch
Asuka is finally on the right track and Becky is arguably the hottest star in the WWE right now. As much as she should have a second title run of greatness, THE MAN has a bigger shark that she wants to take down and that’s Ronda Rousey. The match should be a solid one but Asuka will rein supreme which will pave way for a move to Raw for Becky and a shot at Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania.
Ronda Rousey retains Raw Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks
Daniel Bryan retains WWE Championship against AJ Styles
*UPSET ALERT: FINN BECOMES NEW WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION
Call me crazy, well I can be crazy at times but we all know Brocks style with fighting smaller opponents….SUPLEX SUPLEX SUPLEX!!!!! I anticipate Finn bringing out all the tricks in the book after we have all waited to see this match but in the end I can only see Finn being the victor when the bell rings. I do anticipate a twist, not only will Finn bring out the demon king but I think he will be aided in his victory and officially turn heel. It’s all speculations but for the past couple months even as a face I have seen heel tendencies out of Finn Balor and with a renewed push coming in 2019 I think a heel turn should be in the mix of that and there is no better time than the Royal Rumble.
*Men’s Royal Rumble Match Winner: Seth Rollins
At first I truly believed that John Cena was going to win the rumble and face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania but he was apparently removed with an injury that is a part of a storyline. Seth Rollins was on a tear last year putting on great bouts and with Roman out I think it’s time to really insert him back into the main event picture. Signs have been pointing to a bout at WrestleMania against Brock for the title but I think the smart route is a rematch against Finn Balor with Finn being a heel.
*Women’s Royal Rumble match winner: Becky Lynch
No one should be shocked if this happens. I completely think that Becky will lose and Vince sees all the money in a first ever women’s main event at WrestleMania with Becky and Ronda. So don’t be surprised if the clock ticks and the #30 entrant is Becky Lynch and I think she will toss either Ember Moon( that was my original pick and I thought she would go on to challenge Asuka) or Charlotte(she will find a way to keep herself in the mix with Becky and Ronda) for the victory.
Let me know what you guys think and who you believe will walk out of the Royal Rumble PPV on top. You can catch the Royal Rumble this Sunday on the WWE Network. Kick off show starts at 5pm ET with the main show starting at 7pm ET. They will be live from Chase Field in Phoenix, AR and I don’t think this year’s rumble will be one you want to miss.
