LeBron is playing at an all-time high in his 15th season and he is still not the favorite to win the MVP award, James Harden is. But I think LeBron James can snag this award from James Harden and prove that the 3rd time won’t be the charm for James Harden. LeBron has dominated the League for almost 2 decades and seems to get better with age making everyone wonder when he will slow down. 15 years in the league and he is still elevating his game and even changing the perception of how a player can play in their 15th year which is normally the start of a decline.
Now let’s be honest it will be a challenge for LeBron to steal the award (because that’s exactly what would be happening) from James Harden). James Harden and the Rockets are looking like the best team in the NBA.
- Clinched the 1st seed in the Western Conference
- Rockets are 29-2 since James Harden returned from a hamstring injury
- 39-2 in games where Harden, Paul, and Capela have played
- Harden leagues the league in several stats
- 3 pointers made
- Free Throws made(of course)
- Win shares
- Real plus/ minus
- Player efficiency rating
- 3rd in the league in assist
Wow that was a mouth full but it pretty clear why James Harden is the favorite right now but LeBron James is making history as well and continues to build a case for the awards as well as saying he would vote him himself.
15 years in and father time still hasn’t kicked in. LeBron is redefining how we look at players in their Prime. No player at the age of 30 or older has averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assist for a season and LeBron is 2 weeks away from completing that. No players in the league 15 years or more have collected more than 3 triple doubles and LeBron has 16. Then recently he became the first player to ever have 35 points and 17 assist in a game without a SINGLE TURNOVER!!!
We can go on and on about his accomplishments but the most interesting part about this is that he has kept the Cavaliers a float during the process that have been on a productive roller coaster. Even with injuries and a mid-season reboot the Cavs are still 3rd in the east and that has a lot to do with LeBron’s historic campaign (Westbrook was going off and the thunders barely clinched last year). The only problem is that the Cavs play as a whole and their struggles could be the only thing keeping LeBron from getting yet another MVP award.
Overall I believe the name of the trophy is Most Valuable Player and is given to the player who contributes most to their team’s success. James Harden has done that of course but even without him the Rockets would still be good. LeBron has single handedly kept the Cavs a float with several injuries and they are on their way to being the 3rd seed in the eastern conference. Sounds to me like LeBron contributes A LOT to the Cavs success. The Cavs would be out of the playoffs without LeBron while the Rockets would still be a float. James Harden maybe a lock but this wouldn’t be the first time he wasn’t quick enough to snag the MVP award
( thanks for the joke State Farm) and even with 2 weeks left LeBron has a case to snag the award away from James harden. So what do you think? Does LeBron have a case for MVP? Will 3rd time be the charm for James Harden?
